In June, 2005 UNICON International, Inc. will be celebrating its 15th year in business. This momentous occasion was commemorated by a grand all-employee celebration at the inception of the New Year. Much like the event itself, the 15th anniversary is a product of a great many hours of determined efforts, hard-won victories, and forethought.
How does 2004 rank amongst the fourteen other years of UNICON’s history since its inception in 1990? Simply stated, one of the best!
UNICON saw a number of significant challenges in 2004. Among them were staff reorganizations, vendor management modifications, and changing needs in an ever evolving marketplace. How did UNICON respond? Even in the face of these daunting issues, the company was able to successfully achieve its major corporate goals, and even exceed its revenue goals!
How was this accomplished?
First Quarter ‘04
UNICON’s 2004 first quarter witnessed the continuation of a number of large, successful projects and even the award of new business with some old friends.
UNICON’s leadership team unveiled the 2004 corporate goals to its staff and challenged them to aspire in all their work efforts to the principles of accountability, creativity, and teamwork. It was a promising time filled with vision.
Second Quarter ’04
The second quarter of 2004 came in like a lion and went out… like a lion! This quarter witnessed continued growth in the project-based and subcontracting arenas, as well as significant achievements in the overall success of two large state government projects. However, this quarter was not without anguish. Due to the shifting needs of the economy, the second quarter came to a close with difficult staff reorganizations.
Third Quarter ’04
Driven by the grim determination to work unerringly and with the utmost integrity, UNICON doubled its efforts during the third quarter of 2004. This quarter saw the renewal of no less than three major projects as well as substantial growth in its staffing services division. The UNICON crew once again proved that in the face of many challenges, even the loss of a few old friends, success is to be won only through the virtues of discipline and resolve. By the end of this quarter the corporate goals had nearly been achieved in whole… and we still had three months left!
Fourth Quarter ’04
After being recognized by Columbus CEO Magazine during the third quarter as a top female professional in Central Ohio, President Jane Lee was given even more outstanding news. During the fourth quarter, UNICON was recognized, yet again by Business First, as one of the top 25 minority-owned companies in the State of Ohio! This quarter also marked UNICON’s greatest achievement in the Information Security industry with one of its top customers. And, to even greater avail, by New Year’s Eve, UNICON had well surpassed nearly all corporate goals including its annual revenue goal!
2005 and Beyond
How will UNICON continue to surpass expectations in the future? What course will UNICON plot to navigate the tumultuous waters of an ever fluctuating marketplace? What great accomplishments will UNICON proudly exhibit at the conclusion of 2005?
Only time will tell with certainty. However, if the past 15 years are any indication, anticipate nothing less than greatness!
